Gender bias and inequality in the workplace is not a new problem. Despite its longstanding presence, this problem continues to linger, impacting the professional growth and opportunities of women worldwide. Only 12% of paid executive officers in publicly held companies are women. Andrea Kramer and Alton Harris join Kevin to discuss their approach to addressing this problem. They argue that traditional anti-bias training programs are ineffective. You can’t tell someone, don’t do that. Instead, they suggest eliminating exclusionary behaviors and biases from organizational policies and practices. They also debunk five gender myths, including the idea that women lack ambition, are less self-confident, and cannot handle risks and leadership roles.
